When I gaze into the heavens, I see
A deep blue ocean beckoning me
Snow-white pillows sailing on high
Celestial ships which bring a sigh...
The sun, the clouds, birds on the wing
A sea of blue anchoring everything
Winter sunsets in a pure lavender hue
Filling my eyes with its magnificent view
A scarlet sun embraces the west
Compelling the birds to seek their nest
And just when I can't see it anymore
I imagine it dawning on another shore
After a rainstorm...in the imperial blue,
Sometimes a rainbow comes peeking through
A prismed-pallette of colorful bands
God's promise...painted with His loving hands
I stand in awe of His reminder up there...
His promise to all living flesh everywhere,
"And the bow shall be in the cloud, and I will look upon it
That I may remember the everlasting covenant"
Just knowing He is looking upon it, too
Excites my soul through and through...
With a closeness mere words cannot convey
Touching me deeply in every way
Storms in my life have pulled me down
My soul still trapped on this earthen ground
I am merely a pilgrim...just passing through
The way back home...beyond this indigo blue
Each sunset means one less day I'll roam
Through this land so far from home
Each rainbow I should happen to see
A reminder that God is still watching over me
Somewhere over that rainbow in the sky
I can see Heaven with my heart's own eye
Waiting for me there... just beyond the blue
Where all my dreams finally come true
Peace, Love and Happiness will abound
Eternally on Heaven's solid ground
Tears and infirmities will fly away
And communion with God will fill each day
I'll stroll upon streets of purest gold
No longer troubled with worries of old
Suffering and pain will finally disappear
Beyond my blue heaven...so far, yet so near.
I long for the day I can rejoice
When I'll finally hear my Father's voice
Reassuring me as I reach that shore,
"My child, you are not in Kansas anymore!"
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the sweetest dreams really do come true
So, if you should see me there...flying high
God, please don't clip my wings...just let me fly!
"I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth."
